Frequently asked questions

Is the shuffle truly random?
Yes. It uses a Fisher–Yates shuffle, so every possible ordering is equally likely.
Does it keep my list private?
Yes. Everything runs in your browser — your list is never uploaded anywhere.
How do I randomize presentation order?
Enter each presenter on a separate line, shuffle once, then read the numbered result from top to bottom. For example, Ana, Ben and Cam might become Cam, Ana and Ben. Agree to use the first result before drawing.
What happens to duplicate entries and blank lines?
Blank lines are ignored and spaces at the start and end of each line are trimmed. Duplicate entries remain separate entries. Include each person once when everyone should get one turn.
Can a shuffled list stay in the same order?
Yes. The original order is one possible random result. With three distinct entries there are six possible orders, including the starting order. Repeated shuffles may also repeat a previous result.
