Frequently asked questions
- Can I get a lowercase letter?
- Yes — tap the “a–z” toggle at the top to switch to lowercase, or “A–Z” for uppercase.
- Does it include every letter equally?
- Yes. All 26 letters are equally likely on each tap, and letters can repeat because every pick is independent.
- How can I use it for a word game?
- Choose categories such as animal, food and place. Generate a letter, then name something in each category starting with it. For example, B could give bear, bread and Berlin. Agree on any excluded letters before starting.
- Can I draw letters without repeats?
- This picker allows repeats. For a shuffled alphabet without repeats, open the list shuffler linked below, paste the letters A through Z one per line, then shuffle and read down the result.
- What is the chance of getting a particular letter?
- Each letter has a 1 in 26 chance, about 3.85%, on a draw. A short run does not have to contain every letter or equal counts. The previous result does not change the next draw.
- How does the letter picker work?
- Your browser uses JavaScript Math.random() to choose a position in the English alphabet. The picker includes A–Z only; accented letters and other alphabets are not included. The website letter tool is separate from the number-generator app.
